Financial Literacy

Our financial literacy module will expose students to the basics of banking, budgeting, and investments. After successful completion of this module students will have the foundation to make responsible financial decisions as young adults.

Health and Wellness

We offer students a range of health-related activities including yoga, nutrition, and meditation. Students will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge of relaxation, stress management techniques, and mindfulness.

Mentorship

The purpose of our mentorship efforts is to provide student-athletes with guidance into a positive future. Students will participate in group mentorship sessions as well as one-on-one sessions with a designated advisor.

NCAA Clearance

The purpose of NCAA Clearinghouse assistance is to support student-athletes through the process of gaining eligibility to participate in college athletics at division 1 or division 2 levels. In order to play college athletics at division 1 and 2 levels, students are required to meet certain academic standards. This component will thoroughly explain the eligibility requirements and will assist student-athletes in completing the NCAA Clearinghouse application process. We will provide assistance with the following:

  • Check transcript for core classes
  • Identify the overall grade point average (GPA) vs. core GPA
  • Register for SAT/ACT & arrange for scores to be sent to Clearinghouse
  • Submit NCAA Clearinghouse registration (fee required)
  • Obtain status (qualifier or non-qualifier)

Food for Fuel

We at YSP believe that every student should have the opportunity to focus on their education and pursue athletic interests.  We assert that students should have access to nutritional food that will allow them to achieve these goals.

Food for Fuel helps YSP students get adequate nutrition by giving them gift cards and coupons for local healthy supermarkets. We educate students on healthy eating options with a focus on nutrition for athletic performance (pre and post workout nutrition choices).

Lastly, the program will inform students and their families regarding various nutrition programs their families can apply for such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Supplemental Nutrition. Program for Women, Infants, and Children).

YSP Scholarship Fund

Our Scholarship Fund was created to provide funding for underserved student-athletes who otherwise would not be financially capable of attending a school that requires tuition and/or participating in offseason college athletic camps that are tailored toward college exposure. YSP scholars will be eligible for the scholarship fund by showing the need for financial assistance and meeting the academic requirements of one of the  three scholarships we offer listed below:

The Kevin Shaw Scholarship Fund will assist YSP scholars who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for their respective marking period by paying 50% of the cost of tuition the student is required to pay to attend their school and/or cover the complete cost to participate in their desired college camp(s). If the student falls below the requisite GPA (3.5) needed to be eligible for the scholarship, their GPA for that marking period will be used to determine which YSP scholarship fund the student is eligible for, if any.

The Orlando Gober Scholarship Fund will assist YSP scholars who have a GPA between a 3.0 and 3.49 for their respective marking period by paying 40% of the cost of tuition the student is required to pay to attend their school and/or cover the complete cost to participate in their desired college camp(s). If the student performs better than a 3.49 or worse than a 3.0 for the following marking period, their GPA for that marking period will be used to determine which YSP scholarship fund the student is eligible for if any.

The Damian Williams Scholarship Fund will assist YSP scholars who have a GPA between a 2.5 and 2.9 for their respective marking period by paying 25% of the cost of tuition the student is required to pay to attend their school and/or cover the complete cost to participate in their desired college camp(s). If the student performs better than a 2.9 or worse than a 2.5 for the following marking period, their GPA for that marking period will be used to determine which YSP scholarship fund the student is eligible for, if any.
